Growing Graduate Enterprise in Greater Lincolnshire
04 Feb 2020
Last September we launched Growing Graduate Enterprise – our brand new programme aimed at supporting graduates who want to set up and run a business in Greater Lincolnshire.
The programme is diverse with many of our graduates coming from different backgrounds and disciplines, which range from sports science and art to business and media production.
What is Growing Graduate Enterprise?
Growing Graduate Enterprise is a programme of enterprise support targeted at graduates who are looking to start up a business. The programme is open to recent graduates located in Greater Lincolnshire; they could have attended any UK university and returned to Greater Lincolnshire after graduation.
As part of the programme, graduates receive a comprehensive package of business support which includes one-to-one mentoring, group workshops and boot camp-like sessions, individual needs assessments leading to targeted action plans, as well as a minimum of 24 hours’ support for each beneficiary on the scheme.
Graduates then pitch their business idea to a grant panel of business professionals to receive up to £2,500 start-up funding for their business.
Some of the workshops we have held include bookkeeping, how to gain investment, commercial law awareness and marketing, and we are planning many more.

“I was really keen to start a video production business, but I simply didn’t have the funds or the resources. The programme was a fantastic opportunity to get both the funds and the resources to get the business off the ground.
“Starting a business seemed like a really scary prospect before I started the programme. Since attending the workshops and pitching my business idea in a professional environment my perception of starting a business has completely changed. I now feel ready to put into practice the invaluable training I have received from the programme.
“I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the programme and I can’t wait to start trading.”
Toby Sims, a University of Lincoln graduate and participant in the programme
